The Nature Connection is a non-profit organization that brings unique educational and therapeutic nature programs, including live animals, to people with limited access to the natural world. Founded in Concord in 1983, The Nature Connection connects vulnerable individuals with nature’s capacity to heal and to teach.

Serving the greater Boston and MetroWest area, The Nature Connection works with underserved individuals whose challenges include emotional trauma, mental illness, physical disabilities, aging and memory loss including Alzheimer’s. The Nature Connection delivers programs to special needs schools, psychiatric treatment centers, elder facilities, and Alzheimer’s care programs.

Program Coordinator & Trainer

The Nature Connection seeks a Program Coordinator to plan and deliver hands-on, highly interactive nature programs, with live animals, primarily to underserved children and at-risk youth, as well as groups of elders/adults with varying disabilities. All of our travelling programs take place indoors. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for co-leading trainings for volunteers and professionals in our methodology. The Nature Connection delivers nature programs to special needs schools, psychiatric treatment centers, elder facilities, and urban after-school programs.

We seek an individual who is energetic; experienced in presenting to a group; and skilled at working with a team. Successful staff members bring a passion for our mission, an understanding of nature/animal assisted therapy, leadership and teamwork skills, strong desire to connect with isolated/vulnerable individuals, and high level of motivation and creativity.

Serving twelve sites in Greater Boston (from Lancaster to Concord to Cambridge). The Nature Connection works with underserved children and youth whose challenges include emotional trauma, mental illness, physical disabilities, and behavioral issues.

Note: This is a part-time weekday position of 10-15 hours per week. Programs occur Tues/Wed/Thurs. As more sites contract for services during the coming year, hours for this position will likely increase, up to maximum of 20 hours.
