We bring the healing power of nature to people with limited or no access to the outside world: at-risk youth; elders; and people with disabilities. Through regular programs combining seasonal natural materials, live animals, and hands-on activities, we connect individuals with nature’s capacity to heal, teach, and create joy.
Sailor, businessman, friend, and philanthropist
Wade Edwards served for many years as a board member and treasurer for The Nature Connection. We will dearly miss his sense of humor, optimism, advice and generous spirit. In lieu of flowers, his family has suggested that contributions in his memory be made to The Nature Connection. Contribute in Wade's memory
Becky has been volunteering for the Nature Connection since winter 2015, enjoying her time socializing with Crow, NC's wild, non-releasable bird, once a week. She has a PhD in biology, and currently teaches Conservation Biology at Tufts Center for Conservation Medicine, Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Previously, she was the Director of Mass Audubon's Coastal Waterbird Program, overseeing the protection and monitoring of approximately half the state's threatened Piping Plovers as well as other beach-nesting birds. She is focusing on raising her two young daughters now, and is happy to be part of an organization that plays such an important role in making nature accessible to all.
