Do you think spending some regular, focused time with nature could improve your mental & emotional health? Would you benefit from a structured way of connecting with nature? Are you interested in sharing your nature moments with others in a supportive group atmosphere? Please join us for Earthnotes, a nature journaling series from The Nature Connection!

Keeping a seasonal nature journal offers a way to practice your nature-noticing skills and allow the earth to remind you of the resiliency of life. Join The Nature Connection for a 6-week series to learn some techniques for keeping a journal. We’ll be exploring and observing how the plant and animal life change with the season through creativity, imagination, and documentation and sharing our discoveries with each other.

Our goal is to help you experience the sense of wellbeing that can come through deepening your relationship with nature by providing the space and structure to engage with the natural world around you.

You will be given guidance and support in creating your own nature journal (paper or digital). Program time will be primarily conversational, as we take turns sharing any discoveries and questions that have come up during the week. We will also introduce a new nature journaling technique each week and have a chance to practice it during the program. Your journal can be in whatever format you want (photography/video, writing, drawing/painting, or spoken word). It is a tool for your own expression and observations – have fun with it!

Materials Needed -Your Nature Journal in whatever format you want! -Sketchbook/paper & pencil will be helpful to have on hand during Earthnotes meetings. -Access to Padlet via a web browser or the mobile app. Creating your own free Padlet account is optional, but useful. (www.padlet.com)

Schedule

This small group will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 3-4pm EST via Zoom for 6 meetings beginning on March 27th and ending on May 1st. Please plan to attend all 6 sessions.

Fee & Accommodations

We offer tiered pricing and reduced rates for those who need it (such as Card to Culture participants). And if you are able, we recommend choosing the Ticket + Donation rate. We are a donor-supported organization, which means over 50% of our annual income comes from individual donors. Your donations allow us to care for program animals, offer weekly Wednesday programs, and travel to over 20 program sites each month across Middlesex County delivering programs to older adults, adults with disabilities, and youth at risk – creating 3000 nature connections each year!

Please send us an email at [email protected] if you are in need of additional financial assistance or of any accommodations that would help facilitate your ability to participate. We want everyone to be able to connect with nature!
