Nature Programs for Assisted Living & Day Health Centers

Engaging, adaptable nature-based experiences that support well-being, social connection, and joy.

The Nature Connection brings therapeutic nature programs directly to assisted living residences and adult day health centers — offering opportunities for exploration, reflection, and meaningful connection for older adults with a range of physical and cognitive abilities.

Whether participants are living independently, navigating physical challenges, or managing early-stage memory loss, our programs are designed to meet each person where they are — fostering curiosity, calm, and community through nature and animal experiences.

How We Serve

We bring the outside in — offering hands-on activities with natural materials, engaging seasonal themes, and calming animal visits that spark conversation, laughter, and reminiscence. Programs are paced to support accessibility and comfort, with one-on-one interactions that encourage participation and presence.

Sessions may include:

  • Gentle touch-based animal interactions

  • Nature-themed sensory exploration

  • Seasonal crafts or journaling

  • Reflective storytelling and discussion

Participants are invited to connect — not perform — and to engage in ways that feel right for them.

Staff Member at Summit ElderCare (PACE)

“Our participants at the day center always look forward to your programs. Nature is interesting and the opportunity to connect to it is beneficial to their wellbeing, mitigates social isolation, and brings back memories”

A Therapeutic Approach

Our facilitators are trained in trauma-informed care, aging-related needs, and person-centered practices. We understand the importance of predictability, emotional safety, and pacing. Whether participants are new to nature or lifelong gardeners, we create space for personal meaning, choice, and connection — without pressure.

Our programs are designed to support:

  • Emotional well-being and mood

  • Social engagement and community-building

  • Confidence and self-expression

  • Gentle sensory stimulation and relaxation

Outcomes

Staff and family members often observe:

  • Improved mood and reduced agitation

  • Increased social interaction during and after sessions

  • Greater participation from quieter or more isolated residents

  • A sense of shared joy, wonder, and presence
