Vocational Volunteers
The Nature Connection provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for individuals with disabilities, offering a supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop job skills, and connect with their community. We partner with outside organizations—such as specialized schools, human service non-profits, and community groups—that offer their own staff to accompany and support the individuals they serve during our volunteer opportunities. Together, we create inclusive volunteer experiences that empower participants while fostering personal growth and independence.
Some tasks that vocational volunteers typical help us with include:
Animal & Plant Care:
-
Cleaning of animal enclosures. Our current nature center inhabitants include: chinchillas, angora rabbits, a guinea pig, a corn snake, pond & garden snails, among other animals
-
Providing animals with food and water
-
Socializing animals through playing & training
-
Watering plants
Nature Center Maintenance:
-
Sweeping floors, dusting shelves & other surfaces
-
Emptying trash cans and replacing bags
-
Wiping down countertops & sink
If your organization is interested in this kind of opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us at teagen@nature-connection.org or (978) 369-2585.
